Happy Sunday....

Just a quick hello to everyone.
No special reason for this post. Just a cute smile to share with you and a quick story. Friday evening at her therapeutic horseback riding session Brooklyn was lying back on the horse. Her instructor actually though she had "had enough" and was done for the session when all of a sudden she sat up.....ALL ON HER OWN. He thought I had pulled her up, I though he had pulled her up (NOPE) There she was sitting straight up on the horse grinning from ear to ear! Needless to say we will be adding "sit ups" to her horseback sessions in the weeks to come!
I also find it weird that she has started to lean to her right (you can see it in this picture) but all during the horseback ridding she leaned to her left. I can never figure her out! We worry about her posture and scoliosis constantly (as this is always a concern with our girls with rett syndrome.) We have started sticking a towel down beside her on her right side but if there are any moms out there with a better suggestion, I would love to hear your ideas.
I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend!
Love from the Butlers.....

A strange suggestion, but the one time Caitlyn was leaning she had a double ear infection...(we didn't know until sometime later.) She also occasionally leans with constipation. Just some thoughts on the leaning...As always, she is very cute!

I've been sticking a towel under that same right side for years...in the car, in the rocking chair, in her swing...right now she is watching a celine dion tape on tv with a firm pillow wedged from hip to armpit :) Her wheelchair has an arm that fits under the armpit and against her ribs to hold her upright.
The only 2 places she does not lean to the right is in her stander, which is one of the reasons it is so good for her, and also on the horse :)
She is almost 12 with no scoliosis yet, just some kyphosis.

My little boy has CP and started to develop a left leaning scoliosis. The physio suggested a side - lying board, where we lay him on the side opposite to the lean. It did have an effect, but meant him lying in that position for hours. Ultimately, only a programme of developmental stimulation resolved the issue and straightened him out.

Kelly--thank you for your comments on my blog (photos of Sydney.) I have passed Brooklyn's blog address on to Sydney's mom, Marla.

Your Brooklyn is adorable--and how exciting that she sat up on the horse! Marla tells me that Sydney will be taking therapeutic surfing lessons soon. That kid just loves the water!

I bet you wanted to scream when she sat up on her own! Probably not the best thing to do on a horse though.
A year ago we had a stabble that does therapy offer to give her her therapy for free. Problem is I am scared to death of horses. Maybe I should get Dad to take her.

Hi- Love the pictures of Brooklyn! Barbie forward me your email from her blog with the pictures of my daughter Sydney, so I just wanted to say Hi. We had a great time taking the pictures yesterday and I was so amazed they turned out so good. Barbie was great, can't wait to see them on the littlest hero project website. My email address is
mab1305@hotmail.com. I would love to ask you some questions on how you created this cool website.

Thanks,
Marla & Sydney
