I have such amazing friends!!

Truly, I do!
Some friends of mine from church approached Charlie and me about doing a benefit for Brooklyn. We were so touched! They are working very hard arranging a very special evening. Here is a copy of the letter they sent out to area businesses and friends. For anyone that is in the area we would love for you to join us on Friday, June 27th at Angola High School!

Brooklyn Butler is a 3 year old little girl with Rett Syndrome. Rett Syndrome is a debilitating neurological disorder that affects girls. It is the most severe form of autism. It causes problems with speech, movement, seizures, breathing, cardiac function, chewing and swallowing.

Because of unforeseen expenses for Brooklyn, the Butler’s have set up a trust through their lawyer to help Brooklyn receive the physical, speech, and play therapy she needs. The expenses incurred from these therapies, equipment needs, and medicine can be costly. Other expenses for Brooklyn’s future include a handicap equipped van, a wheelchair, adjustable supportive chairs, lateral supports, prescriptive medications, and eye gaze software.

Several options are available for businesses or individuals wishing to donate to Brooklyn’s future. A trust has been set up in Brooklyn’s name and has been organized at Wells Fargo Bank for the immediate medical needs for Brooklyn and her future care. Her trustee, Kristin Smith, makes sure that all donations go directly to Brooklyn’s care. Checks may be addressed to: Brooklyn Butler Trust and please mail to Wells Fargo Bank 2204 N. Wayne St. Angola, IN 46703. (I omitted all of my sister's contact information - pretty sure she does not want her phone or email out on the web!)

A benefit will be held to raise money for Brooklyn’s future needs. A group of friends, church members, and caring individuals will be having a BBQ chicken dinner and silent auction with live music Friday, June 27th from 4 to 8 o’clock. We are collecting items for a silent auction. Please consider donating an item or a monetary donation. Your business will be acknowledged as the donor unless instructed to do so anonymously. (I also omitted my friends contact info for the same reason!) However, please leave a comment on the blog if you do want make a donation or provide a silent auction item.

The benefit will be held at Angola High School commons area on Friday, June 27th from 4:00-8:00 pm. Any support you are able to give is greatly appreciated.

For more information about Brooklyn Butler or Rett Syndrome log on to http://www.brooklynbutler.blogspot.com/. Your heart will truly be touched by this amazing little girl and the extent of her families’ efforts to give Brooklyn the best life possible.

Brooklyn, you are one lucky girl to have such great parents and friends. Your Mama has been a Godsend to our family. Her compassion and caring for Carrie and Erin and all the other Rett mamas is one of the big things that keeps them going. Thank you for sharing your dear Mom with all of us.
