I first want to say that Brooklyn is home with daddy this morning and doing fine.
Last night was no fun.
We ended up in the ER at 2:30am with Brooklyn. She has had a fever for 4 days now, again still no new symptoms - just a fever. She had a "breath holding" session which is typical in Rett Syndrome but I had never had her hold her breath for so long. Her lips turned purple and her face was turning blue. I freaked. I give Charlie credit ~ he remained calm saying "breath holding" is normal in Rett Syndrome honey. My question to all Rett moms that read this blog (PLEASE COMMENT) Is turning blue normal? I really am NOT looking forward to this being a regular part of our lives!
We went to see her pediatrician and he wanted us to go to the ER for a chest x-ray to rule out pneumonia. She was a fussy wreck through his entire exam which is very unlike her! She fell asleep as we were leaving the office so we decided to hold off on the ER trip until she woke up. At 1:30 she woke up and her temp (in her ear) registered 105. I know that she had been sleeping and temps are always high at night but I obviously was a little worried.....
Off to the ER we went.
Long story made short......3 rectal temps, 2 caths, and a round of chest x-rays later she was given the "all clear" and at 5:30am we were on our way back home. They assume that it is the same virus her cousin Jackson had but what took him 24 hours to get over is taking her five days.
Our little trooper.

Oh I hope Brooklyn is feeling better today. Sorry I can't offer any advice on the breath holding - Brooke does do this but not to the blue lip point (yet). Hopefully it was just made worse because of her being ill and won't turn into a regular thing.

Ahhh...poor lil' angel, We sure hope she gets better quick! We will be praying for all of you. Hang in there Kelly! You are so strong, and a great mommy. Just remember how much she loves you for all you do for her!
Get well soon, Brooklyn!!
Whew! I'm glad she is doing better.
Love,
Margie & Grandpa
Brooklyn, fevers are not cool! We haven't dealt with breath holding with blue lips...But have dealt with each individually...Pnuemonia gives Caitlyn blue lips. And she thinks she's pretty cute with her breath holding...(drives me crazy!) Hope Brooklyn is feelings better soon!
Hope you're feeling better soon!
What an exhausting night for everyone. I hope Brooklyn shakes the bug soon and everyone gets some sleep. Hugs.
