2007

I feel like I do not even know where to start with this post......
2007 was quite a year here in the Butler household. A year of confusion, fear, and frustration which eventually led us to a diagnosis of Rett Syndrome that took us through anger, sadness, and finally hope. I have felt emotions I did not know exsisted and cried tears I did not know were there throughout this year. We have sat in countless waiting rooms and watched as our little girl endured numerous tests.
I have also felt so much love and emotional support from friends and family that I can't even begin to explain how that has helped me through this year. I have even had strangers encourage me through prayer or even financial support for the Rett walk this fall, the outpouring of love has been overwhelming to say the very least.
My mom and dad have relocated to be near us and have been so helpful, and my sister now lives one mile away.......there is NO WAY to put into words how much they mean to me. Their love gives me the strength I need on the days I feel overwhelmed with life. I will never be able to thank them enough!
I have met amazing Rett moms online (and in person) that allow me to see past the sad days and encourage me with their words of hope for the future. The advice (and recipes) they share with me is invaluable!
We have had friends cook us meals and buy us therapy equipement. We have worked with wonderful therapists that love Brooklyn and encourage her to work hard each day, and the list goes on and on and on!
It is hard to sum up 2007 really....I do however look forward to 2008, to our life with Brooklyn and Rett Syndrome and all the blessings that are ahead.
